About Francesca Rome-Marie

Working out of Rome, Italy, Francesca Rome-Marie is a compassionate and dedicated healthcare professional who has spent her life building a career in the service of others. Francesca’s professional focus lies at the intersection of health and identity, believing strongly that an individual’s whole self must be considered – and respected – for successful care.

Accordingly, she has specialized experience in several areas that address people’s needs on a macro and micro level, including family medicine, global health, HIV and AIDS, LGBTQIA+ rights, and disaster management.

A dually board certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner with a Masters in Disaster Management from Copenhagen University, Francesca Rome-Marie has studied and trained globally at institutions from Johns Hopkins University to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Throughout her career, Francesca has developed a particular passion for working in areas affecting the health and rights of underserved and marginalized communities. Her focus on gender and LGBTQIA+ equality includes approaching her work relating to global health with mindfulness toward, gender, sexuality, gender-based violence, forced displacement, and reproductive rights.

She knows that honoring people’s innate dignity and sovereignty to make decisions about their own bodies is paramount when it comes to building respect and equality.

This respect and equality are necessary for whole-body health.

From years of experience working in healthcare, Francesca Rome-Marie is skilled at providing aid and care in high-stress situations. Through her work, she is experienced in crisis counselling, risk reduction, disaster relief, and humanitarian aid – offering lifesaving resources to those in need. 

In addition to her medical training, Francesca has studied topics that include psychoanalysis, feminist critiques of reason, global religions and cultures, and international human rights in experiential and academic contexts. She is also well-versed in sexual health and education as well as gender theory, analysis, and mainstreaming.

Francesca has a strong background working with diverse populations – including LGBTQIA+ individuals, women and girls, sex workers, and those whose identities transect multiple groups. She is also experienced working within nonprofit organizations, humanitarian activism, and community health initiatives.

Through this work with diverse populations, she has become skilled in interpersonal communication, collaborative problem solving, and cross-cultural communication in Italian, English, and French.

Much like her educational background, Francesca Rome-Marie’s professional ethos is a mixture of practice-based competencies, in-depth scientific knowledge, and hands on experiences. This dedication to maintaining a holistic and comprehensive understanding of her field leads Francesca to utilize strategic approaches to achieve the best results – whether for individual patients or larger populations being served.
